In today’s world, there is an abundance of negativity around failure. The truth of the matter is, failure is a good thing. It is a necessary thing. In order to truly know who you are, you must fail. You must fail to build character. You must fail to build grit. You must fail to discover you.

A huge component of failure and fear of failure is procrastination.  We procrastinate what we need to do because we fear failure. What you need to realize is that sometimes things just don’t work out. The timing may be off or the situations isn’t right, but that doesn’t mean it was a failure.

The reality is, is there is no such thing as failure. It truly is about our own perspective on a situation. It is our opinion.

Embrace failure because if you don’t, you will never take the chances you need to and you will never truly know yourself. You will never ask for that raise. We will never open that restaurant. We will never ask the person you love to marry you.

You need to walk through life asking, “Do I know myself? Do I know what I want? Do I know what I believe?” If you are truly know the answers to these questions, you know yourself. If you do not, then you are not trying enough things or taking enough chances. You are fearing failure.

So what do you do? You go for it.

You take a chance. You look failure in the eye, you hug it and make it your friend. There is no guarantee it will work out how you imagined in the end but that’s not the point. The point is you tried and that alone ensures you’re not a failure.
